Director, Writer, Comedian Signs With Uber Content
Lucia Aniello, the director behind the viral spot "Dollar Shave Club" for the online start-up of the same name, and co-creator of the web-series "Real Housewives of South Boston," has joined Uber Content for commercial representation in the US.
Aniello, made her first splash in the ad world with the promo for Dollar Shave Club, which quickly tallied more than four million hits on YouTube. The spot was featured by Entertainment Weekly, TIME, The Wall Street Journal, and was recently honored at the Ad Age Viral Video Awards.
In her latest commercial work, Aniello directed a spot for Bacardi through Blast Radius. She also co-wrote and directed a series of digital shorts for the Primetime Emmy Awards, as well as a collaborating on a spot for Audi starring Olivia Munn.
"You can see that Lucia brings so much comedic perspective to everything she's worked on," said Uber Content's partner and Executive Producer, Preston Lee. "She's a director, writer and a performer who's cut her teeth in the improv world. That scene has had such a strong influence on today's style of comedy," he continued, "we absolutely cannot wait to bring that sensibility to both traditional and nontraditional advertising."
In all, Aniello boasts over 30 digital shorts that have been featured by Comedy Central, The New Yorker, and The Huffington Post, and has directed a long list of celebrities including Jessica Alba, Joel McHale, Jeremy Piven, Megan Mullally, Melissa McCarthy, Kristin Chenoweth, and Vanessa Williams.
Aniello directed The Paul Downs Syndrome, which was honored as "Best of NY Sketch" in the New York Comedy Festival, a TONY's "Critic's Pick" and featured in the 2011 Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal. She also wrote on the 2012 return of FOX's seminal sketch comedy series, "In Living Color."
Aniello is a graduate of Columbia University's Film Studies program as well as the UCB Theatre in New York.
